User guide for inventory counters
Everything you need to count products on your phone for the Sindal physical inventory. Built for warehouse use — minimal taps, large buttons, instant search.
Install the app on your phone
Android only · about 18 MB · safe to install
Your admin will provide the Sindal Inventory APK file (an .apk file)
— do not download it from any other source. Your admin will send it to you on
WhatsApp. Save it to your phone, then open it from your Downloads folder
or directly from the WhatsApp chat.
- Tap the file → Android will ask permission to install apps from this source. Tap Allow once.
- Tap Install. The app appears as Sindal Inventory (violet icon) in your launcher.
- Open it. The first time will take a few seconds while the product list downloads.
Install this application?
It will get access to: Internet. Make sure you trust the source before installing.
Sign in with your credentials
Each counter has their own email and password — don't share.
The admin gave you an email and a password specific to your location.
Sindal counter emails follow the pattern code@sindal — find
your location below, then type both the email and the password your
administrator gave you into the sign-in screen and tap
Sign in.

The password was given to you by your administrator — do not share it. The eye icon next to the password lets you show/hide it while typing, in case you typed it wrong. If you don't have a password yet, ask your admin.
What products you'll see
Read the Home screen
Everything you need at a glance.
After signing in you land on the Home screen. From top to bottom you'll see:
- A small COUNTER badge with your email on the right.
- Your location name (e.g. Jeddah Shop or Riyadh Warehouse) in large text — make sure it matches where you actually are.
- A progress ring showing how many products have been counted at your location, out of the total catalogue for your branch.
- A big blue Search products to count button — your main action.
- A secondary My counts button to review what you've already done.
Search for a product
Type any part of the name — the list filters as you type.
Tap the big Search products to count button on Home. The search box opens at the top of the next screen with the keyboard ready.
- Type any word or partial word from the product name. Examples:
3M,helmet,earplug,boot 42. - Matching products appear instantly — tap the one you want.
- To clear the search and type something different, tap the × button on the right of the search box.
Count a product
Pick the unit, type the number on hand, save.
When you tap a product in search results, the count screen opens with three things to choose:
- Unit — pick one of
Pcs,Pair,Packet, orBox. Choose the unit that matches how the office tracks this product (when in doubt:Pcsfor single items,Pairfor gloves/boots,PacketorBoxfor grouped items). - Total quantity — type the total number of items you can see at this location. Decimals are allowed but rare.
- Note (optional) — anything useful for the admin: "3 damaged", "shelf B5", "in back room".
Tap the big blue Save count button at the bottom. You'll see a green confirmation toast and return to Home, where the progress ring increases.
Recount — replace the total, or add to it
Two safe ways to update: set a new total, or add what you just found.
Open a product you already counted (from search, or tap it in My counts). Because it already has a count, a new Set total / Add to count toggle appears at the top. Pick the one that matches what you're doing — the big button at the bottom changes its wording and colour to match, so you always know which mode you're in.
Set total — fix or replace the number
- Type the new total on hand and tap the blue Final Count button.
- The app double-checks: "Already counted as 12 Pcs. Replace it?" → tap Replace, then a reminder to enter the total (not just the extra) → Got it.
Add to count — you found more
- Switch the toggle to Add to count. The unit locks to the existing one (you can't accidentally add Pcs to Box).
- Type only how many you just found — a live line shows the maths: Current 12 + 5 = 17 Pcs.
- Tap the amber Add to count button. No replace dialog — adding is safe. Your total becomes 17.

and the app adds it and shows the running total. Fewer wrong numbers.
Record packaging (when asked)
Once per product, for the whole company.
After you save the first count for a product, the app may ask: Sold in packages? This is the office wanting to know how many pieces are in a carton, box, or kit.
- If the product comes only as individual pieces (e.g. one helmet at a time on a shelf): tap No.
- If the product is also sold by carton / box / kit: tap Yes → pick the package type → enter how many pieces it contains → tap Done.
You only need to do this once per product. Other counters at other locations will see what you entered. If you got it wrong, open the same product later and tap Edit on the Packaging panel — your entry is prefilled so you can fix it.
Review your counts
See everything you've recorded at this location.
From Home, tap the secondary My counts button. You'll see a chronological list of everything counted at your location (not just by you — by anyone signed in to this location).
- Each row shows the product name, the quantity + unit, and how long ago it was updated.
- Tap any row to re-open that product and adjust the count.
- Swipe down to refresh.
- The badge at the top right shows the total number of products you've counted so far.
When your location is locked
Counting is complete — the office is reviewing.
When the admin marks your location as complete, the app shows a yellow LOCKED badge on the Home screen and the Search products button becomes grey.
- You can still open My counts to read what was recorded.
- You cannot add new counts or change existing ones.
- If you find more stock after the location is locked, contact the admin — they will unlock briefly.
Sign out at end of shift
Only when you're done for good — see Tip below.
Tap the logout icon (top-right corner of the Home screen). A confirmation dialog appears — tap Sign out to confirm.
Common problems
Most fixes are quick.
I see "No address associated with hostname" on the login screen.
Your phone has no internet. Check wifi or mobile data. Once you're back online, tap Sign in again.
"Invalid login credentials" when I sign in.
Double-check the email and password — both are case-sensitive. Use the password your administrator gave you. Tap the eye icon to show what you typed. If still wrong, contact the admin to reset.
Save failed: "Permission denied".
Your location has been locked by the admin. Check the Home screen — if you see a yellow LOCKED badge, ask the admin to unlock so you can continue.
The product list looks empty.
On first launch the app downloads your branch product catalogue in the background. Wait a few seconds, then tap the search field and start typing — results should appear. If still empty after a minute, sign out and back in.
I counted the wrong quantity by mistake.
Open the product again (search, or tap it in My counts), keep the toggle on Set total, type the correct total, tap Final Count, and confirm. The new total fully replaces the old one. The History list still shows what the number was before, so nothing is truly lost.
I found more stock after counting — do I re-count everything?
No. Open the product, switch the toggle to Add to count, and type only how many you just found. The app adds it to the existing total and shows Current + found = new total. Use Set total only when you want to replace the number outright.
The app keeps crashing or freezing.
Force-close the app (swipe it away from the recent apps tray), then reopen. If it keeps happening, restart the phone. Still broken? Send a screenshot to the admin.
Can I count on more than one phone?
Yes — sign in with the same location email on any Android phone. All counts go to the same place. But never sign in to two locations on the same phone at the same time.
Ask in the group, not in DMs
Your question almost certainly helps someone else too.
For anything not covered here — a product you can't find, a screen that doesn't behave, a password reset — post in the inventory counters WhatsApp group.
Good things to post in the group
- "Where do I find the product list updates?"
- "What unit should I use for X?"
- "My location got locked but I just found 5 more — can someone unlock?"
- "Anyone seeing 'Save failed: permission denied'?"
What still goes to the admin directly
- A forgotten or compromised password (don't post passwords in the group).
- Anything sensitive about specific stock levels you don't want widely shared.
Don't try to fix things by reinstalling the app or experimenting in Settings. Most issues are resolved by the group within minutes.
